  • yes, he was hero and the best running back nobody saw. I always get choked up whenever I stop and think about him,

  • I think I'm related to him same last name and from the same area in texas

  • I went to NSU to play tennis for the Demons it was the same time Joe Delaney attended NSU I have excellent memories of him. On several occasions he gave us a ride in his blue car to the tennis courts. It is so sad to loose people like him.

He was an excellent football players, fast as hell!! I'll never forget get you because you were a very kind person that touched the lives of many people. RIP Joe.

  • Joe Delaney is the definition of what is good in the world.

  • Im a baseball fan from Mexico, not knowing much about players and/or rules of NFL; but when I saw this video of a TRUE HERO like Mr. Delaney, just thinking to myself: if MLB retired No. 42 of ALL BASEBALLS TEAMS in honor of Jackie Robinson for what he meant in MLB, shouldn't NFL make a BIG honor to this man for his heroic action, giving up his life to save others, so NO ONE forget about him and his legacy?.

  • I only got youtube account so i could comment on Joe Delaney. This guy is a true hero. I live in Australia and his story has found me. What an amazing man. "They dont build em like that any more" I'd be proud as anything to be a "Delaney" He could have been one of the all time greats on the field, no doubt.

  • Too bad - what a great player and ever greater person....

  • The heroic actions of Leonard Pope should revive the memory of this incident. i must admit that mine was quite dim. I admire the selfless acts by Joe Delaney and the entire story was just overwhelmingly sad.

  • I remember watching Joe when i was a kid and man it hurt to hear what happened to him, but he will never be forgotten. A true hero!

  • @soccergirl0929 I also named my daughter after my boyhood hero, Joseph Alton Delaney.
