I made this cake for my daughter's fourth birthday. People asked me for some progress photos, I decided to take lots and stick them together. This cake design is from a Debbie Brown book.

  • Beautiful cake! I am making her next week for my daughter. Can I ask you a few questions? Did you remove the outside crust as instructed in the book? Also, would you make this 10" instead of 8'? I am thinking of making the skirt bigger. Of course, I'll also have cuppies on the side. I can't wait to make her! Also, what type of fondant did you use? I usually make my own MMF; it tastes good and lays beautifully any problem doing so for this?

  • @40cyndy Thanks. I didn't remove the crust on the outside as the buttercream tends to soften it a little anyway, plus the cake recipe I use doesn't really form a hard crust. I used plain rolled fondant here. I've never used MMF for frill work but I don't see any problem with it. Good luck!

  • mate, the figure is the most tricky part, I guess .... :)

    great cake anyway.

  • whats the name of the book :)?

  • You must have had as much fun making this video as when making the cake!!

    Fabulous to both! :)

Where did you get your cutter for the frills please?

  • Thank you for your response to my first questions. I have one more, and I am ready to go. I am acting like I have never ever deocrated a cake before, LOL! This one just has me a little unnerved for some reason. What did you use to cut out the 8" top skirt? Did you use a cutter of some sort, or did you use an 8" board and cut around it? Thanks, again!
