In the last two generations modern urban life and industrial agriculture has left us increasingly disconnected from the origins of our food supply. However, while we may not think much about where food comes from and what it takes to get it to us, our personal understanding of it may becoming even more important. As the price of energy goes up we are increasingly going to have to change the way we produce and transport food from where it is grown to where it is consumed. We as individuals are going to have to begin to participate in this process in new ways. This is a short video about my experience of creating a garden for the first time in my adult life. What I learned has been surprising to me, but what was even more surprising to me was how fun it actually is.

I grow yellow pear but sungold are so much better. I picked 20 lbs of sungold, sweet million, juliet and tomatoberries. We will be needing more and more community gardens with the fuel and food costs rising.
