What a great moment! Gerald Moore playing and speaking. What a voice! The sound just flows out of her mouth, My eyes were filled with tears. Those were the days when an accompanist had his own TV show.

The first time I ever heard Ludwig was on the Callas/Corelli Norma. I almost fell out of my chair. Such a beautiful voice! She has the mezzo sound, but could get up into soprano territory. Her Liebestod is wonderful. Actually, just about everything she sang was wonderful.

I was listening to three famous sopranos sing this,Renee Fleming,Anna Netrebko and Jessie Normen. This is the best performance. Great singer she was......

I'm sorry, but I just can't stand Gerald Moore's pompous introductions. Just shut up and play, man!

Oh how cute when she walked up to him and they took their bows to no applause!

@LibbySingsMezzo I agree: I've never found her anything less than terrifically exciting. And I wish that "almost falling out of one's chair" could be a category adopted by music critics; it's certainly one in forming my pantheon of favorite singers. :)

perfection!!!!!!!
Oh, thank you for uploading this! Could you also please share her fabulous, unequaled performance of Strauss' "Schlechtes wetter" from this same recital? That is one of the greatest things I know.
