What a hysterically classic scene! I clearly remember this from childhood. I remember almost falling off the sofa at the reveal (the room fully loaded with chairs). I can't imagine many directors today setting up a joke like this. That static camera holding for as long as it did as he receded in space was great! Thanks for posting.

It is missing A LOT of footage in this scene... Jerry did something similar as Jacques Tati in the cinema hall - all the meaning (and comedy) of the scene is out on this vid. You can cut, but don't cut the meanings of things.......

Hahaha!! That's it! Thank you. For some reason though, it's not the way I remember it. I could have sworn that scene was longer, and he ran back & forth confused, left to right, right to left, until finally the camera cuts, and you see all the chairs set up. Oh well, still funny though, and gets the point across. Thanks AlwayzKickinIt!
