Center of gravity is setup for weight of pilot in that position. Second, optional, passenger sits nearly on the center of gravity. That way, whether the second passenger is present or not, the plane will fly right.
If the optional passenger sat 3-4 feet behind the C of G, the plane would fly like a shopping cart full of water balloons.
Who every voted you thumbs down for asking this question is a condescending ass bag. No surprise. Most (not all) private pilots are permanently tuned this way.
