Isaac Albeniz

Iberia, Book I
Evocacion

Performed on October 14, 2008 at the BW Keyboard Departmental Recital.

This was my first public performance of this piece. Not the best sound quality, I just used my digital recorder.

Enjoy, and constructive comments only please.

  • You achieved the moments of tension and release / action and reaction better than any performance i´ve heard yet.

There was no attempt at the PPPPP at the end - i think that what Albeniz wants in this piece is the evocation of `unheard´ music - a constant drifting towards imagined sound. The ending especially evokes imagined music by just barely accompanying or commenting on it.

I play it myself but my 70s Yamaha is horribly crude.

  • Thanks for your comment! I agree I want to experiment more with the extreme dynamics in general, but especially the ending. I agree with your reasoning completely and that is the feeling I am going for. Thanks for your input!
