  • @BulldogLacrosse I know how to keep cichlids as well and that's a fine rule to go by. it still works and I'm just saying if you have a big decoration piece for them to go in and 14 of them swimming around it does get crowded and they can get territorial.

  • @TheNextBigThingMusic 14 cichlids is fine in a 55 nothing smaller doesn't matter I know how to keep Africans. Its just that 1 inch to 1 gallon is not a good rule. I don't mean to offend you or anything I'm just trying to inform my other Africans lover.

  • @BulldogLacrosse Well I know for a fact that I'm not wrong at all I have 14 cichlids that all got along perfectly but it was way to crowded so you can't bluntly say that I'm wrong! I guarantee I know more about Cichlids then you do! Also, it does matter what the fishes aggression is like of course but if you have to many then it gets to crowded and then although they we're fine together in the beginning they start to get territorial later on! So to put it "bluntly" you're wrong!

  • @FxT4LyFx Is it like a brown mask around one of the guys face. That resembles he is the Alpha male. Vertical barring represents stress

  • @TheNextBigThingMusic Totaly wrong the one inch one gallon thing only apllys to small fish like tetras and barbs. For cihlids it all matters on the cihclid. You might only be able to keep 2 fish one male to female in a 55 depending on what one. But with labs I would say 3 Male 11 females in a 55 to limit agression and to over stock to limit aggression. The term "over stocking" is not a good thing to try without doing research. So to put it bluntly your wrong

  • If you have a 55 gallon fish tank then you want about 11 cichlids that are 5-6 inches in it! What you do is for every 1inch on the fish you take off gallon on the tank! So 1inch=1gallon

So if you have 11 cichlids 5 inches long each that 55 inches which is equal to 55 gallons Hope that helps!

  • and what size are those and plants?

  • thats amazing how many do you have i have a 50-55 gallon not sure which it is 4 feet long about 13 inches wide and probably 18 inches deep how many do you think i could keep? i am planning on breeding them to sell.

  • i bought two a few days ago. one always hangs around the surface and theyre both getting black markings around there face. what does this mean?

  • nice labs. i have 5 of them in my 75 gal with other mixed africans. love them all. check out my tank. i just posted my first video.
