My first banjo video (I admit I'm a bit nervous to put it up).
I've been playing for ~8 months now, and with the help of my new macbook, I can start making a audio/visual record of my progress (at least progress is the goal) : ) This is a tune from Chris Coole (it's on the Old Time Banjo Festival CD).
Tuning is fDGCD.

  • Really nice! Which Ramsey is that?

  • Thanks, the banjo is Mike's student model. It's a lovely instrument!

  • very elegant . Its great to put this up . One does learn so much from seeing and listening to one's own performances . Feed back can be so helpful as well .I have gotten so much the last month or two from the clawhammer group here on YT. Your going to get better and better I just know because you are listening to what you are doing and you clearly have a discerning ear . Thanks for sharing .. Guy

  • Thanks for the encouraging words, guywolff! I've really loved seeking out all the great clawhammer videos on youtube, as well. So much talent : )

  • No reason to hesitate; you sound great and so does the banjo!

  • This is such a beautiful tune, I heard an old feller' play it on fiddle at clifftop this year 2011 and I decided I had to learn it, still haven't, but it's on the list!

  • A natural! Has feeling....

  • 8 months? Not fair!

  • Very elegant. You've nailed the drop-thumb, too. That's what's been giving me the most problem. Oh well, back to the practice. Could you post Chris's "Ducks on the Pond?"

  • Very nice work. I hope you're sticking with the banjo. Looking forward to your next post.

  • top notch playing. 5*****.

  • Very nice, indeed. You would seem to have a natural flair for clawhammer; I look forward to hearing more!

  • sweet, thanks for sharing!
