Visit above site for more of my movies, images, and space projects.

This is a time lapse movie of Saturns rings imaged by the Cassini Space Craft.

The movie reveals complex and chaotic movement within the rings, moons, moonlets, and other debris in orbit of Saturn is visible here.

Some amazing seuences are visible, including a "part vortex" created as a small moon of Saturn brushes it way around its orbit touching Saturns outermost ring.

  • Saturn's rings are made up of rocks that range in size from allitle bigger than a grain of sand, to allitle bigger than the world's largest buildings. It's rings are more than 16 miles thick. Very well done.

  • My apologies for not saying a big thanks to everybody who has posted positive comments here. As i explained below. I have moved house, and suffered a busted PC.

But, now i have a new PC...Thankyou all for your kind words.

I am back online, and producing new video. So, please keep an eye on my channel here.

  • AnthMartian: Fantastic! Who is doing that

    deep space music?

  • Thankyou, sorry for the extremely long delay in replying. A house move and all that goes with it is to blame.

My PC took a knock and was damaged too.

The music is by "Carlos Natale" i give him credit at end of movie. he is a fellow space exploration enthusiast who happens to also be a talented composer/musician. he granted me permission to use the track.

  • Wow, I am very impressed with this video AnthMartian, please do continue this great work....

    (DMC)

  • Thanks DMC! :-)

A large part of the pleasure i get from these videos is sharing them with people like yourself, who i know have an appreciation and interest in such things.

The video shocked me when i ran it in "preview mode" for the first time. It certainly does show some amazing activity.

Thanks once again for your kind comments.

  • amazing yet so scary

  • I notice at 1:39 the gravitational pull of the moon seems to cause bow waves on the Saturn's rings. Has there been any mathematical modelling or simulations to explain this phenomenon?

  • notice da f ring every time a moon passed and its gravity created ripples

  • mine 2 but its a gas planet,dang

  • thank4the vid saturn is my fav planet

  • I keep on being amazed how those rings behave like a perfect clockwork. Wonderful video! Thank you!
