This song is from the Finnish movie "Tyttö sinä olet tähti" (2005). The international name is Beauty and the Bastard, but direct translation would be "girl youre a star".

The movie tells about Nelli (Pamela Tola) who dreams of being a singer. She asks hiphop-DJ Sune's (Samuli Vauramo) help making songs for a record company. This is one of them. I think the movie is good, it is humoristic and has good music. I recommend it for everyone :D

And btw, Samuli Vauramo will act with big Hollywood stars in movies coming soon, like in the movie Bunraku. Don't forget to watch them ;)

I do not own any rights!
I just translated the song as well as I could. Make any questions/fixing on the lyrics in the comment box if you like.

  • i saw this movie in school :B

  • @gogogofin nice! I watched this with my friends in our "girls' night"; everybody well in love with Sune ;)

  • Kiitos wateralchemist! really interesting since that's not the type of things one can read in books.

  • @criatura88 'hold on to me' is good too, but i thought those words sounded more like Nelli would be saying to Sune to hold on to her, but I think Nelli asks Sune to hold her (in his arms). That's why i used those words. Finnish slang can be quite difficult :')

  • who sings the song?

  • @modlicliani the character is Nelli, actress is Pamela Tola and does the singing voice too ;)

  • If you want to know if your translations are accurate, you could email Sahlar1 cause s/he is Finnish.

  • @criatura88 yeah cause i had to figure out what country this song was from and the only one that actually made sense in english was finnish and it was "keep the black runway" though i guess it could mean something else in finnish? cause japanese is kinda the same it like hm idk what word but theres words that mean a bunch of different things

  • i just watched to movie and aww i really liked it haha i hated finnish movies before but now i love em! love the song too<3

  • Her name is Pamela Tola. She´s not actually a singer, shes an actress, who plays this singer in a finnish musical film: "Tyttö sinä olet tähti". (Which means: "Girl you are a star")
