you have to experiment with children's taste buds, otherwise they don't learn that somethings taste bad. Let them gnaw on an orange peel, or take a bite of lemon. Putting things in their mouths is how they learn what is good and what is bad and soon enough....to stop putting things in their mouth altogether because more things taste bad.
A lemon isn't harmful, it's harmless play for infant and parents.
