  • Bottom line is that, awful as it is, those hateful Christians who talk of good people as "tsunami waves" and refer to their actual lives as "lifestyles", would do better to remove themselves into the darkness, and leave the light of Christ.

  • The old Anglican has for so long seemed to embody the world Established. Embodied it in every way, both literal, cultural, & figurative. Now it is being shaken to the very foundations on which it was established. The Church in England will follow this course before too long. When that happens, the illusion of unity will be torn. The people pushing these things don't care about either Jesus or your Church.

  • I'm not particularly happy about the concessions to African polygamists either, but it looks as if that was intended to be humane--if the polygamists put off all their extra wives, how would those women support themselves? There is a difference between grandfathering a non-Christian practice in the case of converts and turning a blind eye to behavior that the Christian mainstream has always considered sinful. And there's an even bigger difference when it comes to pretending that sin is virtue.

  • you're probably right although you fail to take into account the catholics who have also held the line on this moral issue, they might pick up a few more members from the collapse of the anglican church, christianity in say 30 years time might be split more between the fundamentalists and the catholics with the anglicans and other old protestant denominations faded away to nothing

  • Ask him about the concessions that the Anglican Communion made for polygamist Africans about 15 years ago. Suddenly the whole definition of orthodoxy and Christian values changes to meet the needs of a specific culture. I suspect these folks simply don't like GLBT folks and their understanding of Scripture simply validates the opinions that they already held dear. God never invites us to become small minded.

  • This gentleman makes it sound as if there is rampant chaos and horror in the US and Canada and that lots of folks want to jump aboard other "ships," but that is a huge overstatement. Also he speaks of "orthodox" Anglicans as if Anglicanism was ever dogmatic. Those points, along with the unprecedented actions of foreign bishops acting outside their jurdisdictions make a pretty good case regarding who left who... Get the facts and the story looks very different.

  • Does "macromeat" really believe all gay people come from Australia on the basis that gay festivals are held there? My comment was by way of a joke ("come from down under" -think about it). However I accept that fascists have absolutely no sense of humour.

  • We do have the Gay Mardi Gras in Australia so you are probably right about that.

  • Well fundamentalist churches seem to be anti-gay because of the way they interpret the bible, they don't buge on that point. The Anglican churces are splitting over the gay issue as they try to modernise with todays society. Once the Anglicans ruin their churches then the others will move right in to fill the void. Its simple.

  • Uh..yeah,so point being?
