The Easy-Drive is a revolutionary new hand control that allows unprecedented ease of operation, convenience and safety for the disabled driver.
Easy-Drive is a ring accelerator located in front of the steering wheel which rotates freely and independently, allowing for smooth and consistent control of acceleration and deceleration. Although ring accelerators located behind the steering wheel have been around for years, they require skill, manual dexterity and often substantial training. Users must learn to turn the vehicle while maintaining a consistent pressure on the ring and thus the acceleration level. With the Easy-Drive system, consistent acceleration is a cinch: simply grasp the ring anywhere, with either hand or both, and the ring follows the steering wheel as you turn! Since the motion of the arm and hand are steadied by pressure on the wheel, the precise movements required to accelerate smoothly are controlled by the fingers which naturally have a greater dexterity than the palm or forearm. The ring controls a reliable and time-tested pneumatic servo system that has been in wide use in automotive hand controls for over 30 years throughout the United States and Canada. The brake is controlled by an integrated mechanical lever which can be located to the right or the left of the steering wheel. The system cost is a fraction of the cost of digital systems and is far less invasive in terms of its installation and complexity.
Since the Easy-Drive system is not integrated into the steering column, little or nothing of the OEM steering column is disturbed or modified with the exception of certain trim panels and covers. The system can be used in conjunction with the Mini-Touch Generation II for a complete "both hands on the wheel" driving experience! It has been proven that ring accelerators can interfere with proper deployment of airbags since they are most often located directly in the path of deployment. In deployment it has also been shown that a ring accelerator nearly always forces an acceleration due to the fact that it compresses the ring forward. Easy-Drive avoids these significant safety issues while providing a superior driving experience in an aesthetically-pleasing package.

i dont know how this is a total fail, i think its awesome. i have the standard hand control so most of the time i only have one hand on the wheel. i think this is great and im pretty sure it could be used in cars with both automatic and manual transmissions

@whysohigh
My father-in-law was recently suffered paralysis from a spinal stroke and could drive with some kind of hand controls. I'm no disabled myself so I don't really know what good and bad to look for in controls. If I may ask, what about this particular one makes it bad? Thanks.

obviously not designed by a disabled person. too many reasons to list this is a total FAIL, back to the drawing board
