Democrats in Connecticut target the Roman Catholic Church

In the Connecticut State Legislature Bill 1098 has been introduced by Democratic Party State Representative Michael P. Lawlor and Democratic Party State Senator Andrew J. McDonald. This bill requires only Catholic Churches in Connecticut to have independent committees monitoring and allocating church finances. The Democrats claim this is due to a recent event in which a Catholic priest stole $1.4 million dollars from a church in Connecticut. This pending legislation is in direct violation of First Amendment (Bill of Rights) to the United States Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

Historically that has meant the internal workings of a religious institution were not to be interfered by a government in these here United States of America (USA). However to Democrats laws are only a minor detail to be ignored. This is all part of a sinister scheme by them dar Democrats to consolidate their complete Marxist (Communist) take over of the United States. It should be noted Representative Michael P. Lawlor in 1981, when the Evil Empire was about, earned a Masters Degree in Soviet Studies.

The Democrats are out to consolidate their take over of the USA by eliminating conservative talk radio, hence their attacks on Rush Limbaugh and promotion of the Fairness Doctrine. They need to silence the few conservative news outlets, thus their attack upon Rupert Murdoch. Now the Catholic Church must be tackled for their pro-life and pro marriage as only being between a man and a woman stance. That is the real sinister reason behind this legislation.

Great news: 03/10/2009: the bill has been withdrawn from this legislative session.

I admit I asked it in an obnoxious manner... but that should hardly bother you. After reading about the legislation (at the link you provided), I have formed my opinion that saying they are being "targeted" is disingenuous( due to the privileged class of non-profit corporate exemptions given specifically to the church in previous legislation).

Uncle Tony, I don't agree with everything you said, but on this issue, we see eye to eye. Just because we might despise a group doesn't give us the right to silence that group. I think we both dislike that bunch of Westboro Baptist idiots, but i would never stand for their rights being curtailed. This is ridiculous. also... it should be pointed at that these rules would NOT have applied to general church funds... only those divested into separate corporate entities retaining the funds of the catholic church, but operating in a tax exempt status. There is no "tradition" over how this is done...because non-profits usually aren't allowed to divest funds that way.
