This is real interesting. I read the Power of Now about observing the self, so i guess double attention is the same. I often get stuck in the mind when emotional states arise and it's like another me experiences it all, suffering and fretting. Then i look back and wonder why i allowed myself to slip into that state. It's so hard, especially when you get insulted or feel self conscious. A wannabe warrior!!
Maybe...two years ago, I was talking to my pal about rude customers at work, and how some employees are bothered by that. I said "just because someone shows me their ugly face, doesn't mean I have to put on mine, I'm going to keep being happy and looking good" Is that a less eloquent way of saying "bearing the unpleasant manifestations of others"?
first of all somebody should teach you the right pronunciacion of Gurdieff and Don Juan. Then speak more abstract so that nowbody will understand you.
James, how does one help children keep self-remembrance (and not identify with the little self, as they begin to learn their name and see themselves as "separate" beings, egos?) Have you a video on exercises for children ages 2-6 for example?
Begin slowly and age appropriatly...teach them not to become too "self-important" aand self-absorbed...explain how not to be overcome by the influence of others -to develope a "self-reference" attitude and to not "lose themselves" in that which 'parades' before their eyes
