Thanks. That's pretty stout gear, but I use a similar setup for tarpon at Boca Grande Pass.

@gnsvitek Thanks for the comments. I will be doing Boca again in September as a matter of fact. I'm in search of a large Tiger Shark. The only Gulf coast species of Shark I have not landed yet. I have been after one for years.

WOW. That second Jewfish could've eaten the first one. What about terminal tackle? What size / type hooks and weight of pyramid sinker do you prefer to keep your baits anchored on the bottom?
Again-GREAT CATCH and Video. The ocean kayak scheme is ingenious!

@gnsvitek This rig is spooled with 800 yards of 80lb Ohero braided line. I then run about 10 yards of 200lb mono leader into 175-300lb 49 strand cable or single strand wire. I normally run 9/0 circle hooks for the bigger guys and weigh it down with pyramid sinkers ranging from 3-6 ounces. Of course it depends on the conditions of the tides and surf. I've even gone as high as 8 oz weights on rough days. I use the biggest ball bearing, coastlock swivels to attach the rig to my main line.

@gnsvitek and all the connections are crimped appropriately with a 300lb swivel connecting mono to cable/wire. This is my typical large Shark rig which also works great for large Tarpon and in this case Goliath Grouper if they wanna take my bait which happens often while fishing large baits.

Greetings from Kissimmee. Question-How did you get that mullet far enough out with a Penn Senator 114H. Were you casting or free-lining? Anyway VERY inpressive catch and fish fighting skills. Tight Lines!!

@gnsvitek Hey thanks man! I tow large baits out approximately 300 yards with my kayak. Thanks for commenting. It's funny because I almost forgot about this one after catching my second last summer which was much larger. Check that out when you get a chance. Good luck my friend!
