This incarnation chooses to wear a wig to conceal his baldness (reality is Gene Hackman was a pretty big name in the 1970s so he couldn't shave his head because as soon as this shoot ended he'd have another project to go off to. Remember: This is the first bid budget Hollywood comic book movie. To even get big name actors at all in what was considered a "Children's story" was impressive)

This is the best Lex, except maybe for Lex from All-Star Superman. Pure ego, pure genius, pure evil. Hackman's performance is great. "Doesn't it give you kind of a shudder of electrity through you to be in the same room with me?"

Ah well in all fairness, I have yet to see alot of Superman. Aside from the movies, I'v seen some of Lois and Clark and I'v yet to watch any Smallville. So I can't make very fair judgements, I can only judge between Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey and John Shea, though I'v heard Smallville has a good actor playing him!
