Film set for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The Harry Potter film crew have taken over 2 adjacent platforms at Kings Cross. The red/silver Virgin Pendolino - at 20 secs -(with class 67 diesels at either end) is the base for the film extras and their equipment.

The steam engine is Hogwarts Castle; with four coaches; and a class 37 diesel at the back. This is the main base for filming.

The Pendolino is acting as a screen to block out onlookers and to hide the general public from the cameras.

Draco Malfoy is just visible on the other side of the Hogwarts Express at 1 min 3 secs, but you need eyes like Hedgwig to see him. All this happens at the height of the London rush hour in May 2010.

Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by the British author J. K. Rowling. The books chronicle the adventures of the adolescent wizard Harry Potter and his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The main story arc concerns Harry's quandary involving the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents in his quest to conquer the wizarding world and subjugate non-magical people (Muggles).

  • i went on the harry potter walk yesterday- platform 9 and platform 10 are seperated by a rail not a wall. JK Rowling was thinking of euston not Kings cross.

  • @PotterMelanieDisney There was a wall between them about 10 years ago, complete with a hole! There has been some rebuilding work done. You did have to run at the hole to get through, because it was so congested.

  • @KINGANDCASTLE well i believe that because i haven't been to kings cross before. however, Val my harry potter london walk tour guide said that j.k rowling was thinking of euston station and got confused with kings cross.

  • @PotterMelanieDisney JKR probably does not want to turn the place in to a tourist attraction, so she won't provide proper info on the location.

  • im pretty sure i heard a Plants VS Zombies scream when the platform sign was shown. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHa ha ha!

Instead of another locomotive for electronics operations, they could just borrow a Auxillary Cabbed Power Unit from GO transit of Canada. Also called ACPU. IT`s not powered.

  • @GordonFreemanD40 Yes but the red class 67 diesel was used to pull the train into Kings Cross. It's not there just for heating and electronics.
