Ian plays: "Western Thunder" (seumas coyne) followed by "Carry On Regardless" (Phillip Greer) - Ian plays amid roving bands of teenagers on their bikes (who have nothing better to do on a summer evening then follow the sound of the pipes and roll in and out of this piper's videos)

  • Sweet piping man. Keep it up

  • can you send a zip file of this tune to me?i have BMW GOLD and i cant find good tunes like that one and the drunken landlady.

  • @munnimann You don't have to circular breathe on bagpipes. That's what the bag is for. You blow air into it at a steady pace (instead of coordinating your breathing with your phrasing, like in other instruments) which fills the bag. Then you put pressure on the bag with the arm it's tucked under, which sends a steady, non-stop stream of air into the pipes. The bag is like a third lung. Pretty ingenious, actually. :)

  • a kid flips him off, and he carries on regardless

  • @munnimann

He's not, thats the bag's job. You blow in it and then maintain pressure on the bag with you arm while you breathe (there's a valve in the blowpipe to keep air from coming back).

As for usefulness.. Ian uses it while playing the practice chanter, and quite well.

Its useful while practicing on the pc so your not constantly stopping the music for breath but I don't think there's too many people with the skill, its not easy ;)

  • Very well played. :) But one question, I can't see if you're circularbreathing while playing the pipes. I play didgeridoo and so I can circularbreath - and I'd like to know if you can use it on a bagpipe?

Or if it's even helpfull for learning to play a bagpipe.

    Greets from Germany :)

  • dude u should play sword dance

  • This is quite officially epic. I have both these tunes (not to these settings..) and I'm in awe of the expression. Awesome playing and good motivation for me !
