This is the fourth and final video in the series how to mold a helmet.
It covers the making of the mother mold which is made from fiberglass and resin. Be sure to wear a respirator while using fiberglass and resin.
This video also covers the demolding process.
I will have a video showing how to cast helmets from this mold very soon so stay tuned. If you have any questions just ask and I'll try and help.
Thanks for watching!

  • Couple of tricks you might enjoy

rebound 25 has a pretty decent tear strength, if you put it on thick enough. Just roll it up over the helmet. not spiting it or at least not all the way would save on your seam cleanup. Try it sometime

Also To keep from cracking thin fiberglass(or any hard mold jacket) you can use shims to slowly start evenly dispersing pressure across the whole mold. keeps from warping the flanges. Hope any of that was helpful. Ive got more tricks if you ever need. just holler

  • @Silvarado205 Thanks for the tips. I have though about one piece molds but I haven't had the courage to try yet. =) Maybe the next helmet I do.

  • I have to say, these tutorials are extremely helpful for how I want to about molding my own helmet. Thanks for making these!

Question, though: Did you use two cardboard pieces for your jacket mohawk--one on each half?

  • @cssrocko I'm glad that the videos are helping. As for the mohawk, I only used one piece of cardboard but you could use two.

  • So how many Mohawks do u need? 2? Or 1 because splitting one Mohawk looks hard

  • @MarioThePlush I usually just do one.

  • 5:50, good song :D

  • @xXBocephusXx nice work sir

  • @xXBocephusXx Gotcha. It was hard to tell originally, so I was wondering if two layers would be creating too much of a seperation gap between each half of the jacket. Thanks!

  • @xXBocephusXx So would it matter what direction tehe mohawk went in relation to the cut in the orange? Does it matter if the mohawk is perpendicuklar to the cut or does it need to be in the same direction?
