From the Brighton Mod Weekend.

About The Shoestrung: "I CANNOT HONESTLY SAY I'VE FELT THIS EXCITED BY A NEW BAND FOR A VERY LONG TIME. THIS WAS NOT JUST PLAYING BY NUMBERS IN A WHAT'S NEXT STYLE, NO, IT WAS A BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE." - Tracey Wilmot for ZANI "THE SHOESTRUNG ARE TAKING BACK THE SPIRIT OF ROCK AND ROLL ONE DAY AT A TIME" - digitalgig.co.uk

  • @ mullingman well said

@ Smarpas there's a definite fine line between 'influenced' (what you are referring to wilt Dylan and Waters) and straight up rip offs and these guys have very much over stepped that line. Music evolves by adding to influences not aiming to duplicate with no personal creative output...enjoyed the song anyway

  • @ellollio

    This is a cover song!

Did you read Smarpas comment? As he said - check out The Shoestrung's original music and you will see how appropriation leads to true genuine creation.

  • This is the new talent coming from London and Brighton-these boys are awesome!!! The first time I saw them I was blown away!

  • Oh my God! It's a bloody cover! :)

  • To the people calling them rip offs. This is a cover of an old blues song called "Got my Mojo working". If covering a song is ripping off a song then you might as well call the Beatles and the Stones rip offs. Listen to songs by The Shoestrung like And You, I'd Loved To See You Get Knocked Down, Are You For Real or I'm Blind You See and then you will see how brilliant they are.

  • Yes, good musicians. Yes, rip-off merchants. Like Dylan was and Like Waters was. It is the nature of The Mojo. Check out some of The Shoestrung's original music and you will see how appropriation leads to true genuine creation. The Shoestrung are holding the flame. That is all. Holding the flame until they are done and they themselves can be ripped off. To be ripped off is the honour and the obligation of those who choose to linger at the Crossroads rather than joining the rat-race.

  • good musicians, but a bunch of rip-off merchants. highly unoriginal.
