@sunny5rising P.s., was not trying to be a dick, also kudo's on the welder build, I myself am building one. However I am using a 200amp 24volt generator rather than an alternator. Am using a Datsun 4 banger engine from a little car, 70HP, will have an air compressor on it too as well as having the option of running many other accessories. I will post a vid when its done, 3/4 the way to being done.

@sunny5rising Also you should preheat heat the cast and use a rod with a high nickel content. You can do it with out preheatin but its more difficult

@katskratchkustumz you should have gouged the hell out of that crack, almost all the way to the bottom, weld is gonna crack sooner than later

@JimmyFarina97: Thanks. Yeah, I would say that the engine is probably twice the hp than I needed for this alternator. This was my first welder build so I was using what I had on hand to see if it would even work.
