Why does everyone post shit saying Cliff wouldn't stand for this or Cliff wouldn't have done that. Did any of you know Cliff or what he actually was thinking? I bet you didn't. I know it's fun to speculate on how things might have been, but unless you you were actually a member of Metallica you have no idea what the inner workings of the band was like back in the day.

@Autopsium How can you possibly know that?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! You should listen some Hetfields intervies talking about Cliffs influence on himself and on Metallica. Although is also true that Hetfield is the main engine of Metallica as we know it today, prof of that is that Lars and himself are the only original band members who ve been there since the beginning.

Probably... My point was that... He would have or not. We can't be 100% sure about this. Anyway... I was always standing against comparisons like Metallica vs Megadeth or "w or w/o Cliff"... I didn't think my top comment would have that much reaction... :)

Anyway... thanx to Cliff for his great contribution & efforts and let's say RIP Cliff & Long Live Metallica...

I don't think it is because that Hetfield "can't" write lyrics... he can... but the MOP-era passion has gone a long time ago. As in the previous comment of yours, they are around ages of 50's... don't expect them to be in the same shape as they were back in 80's...

about being the main engine I meant the energy on the stage... up to Napster things Lars wasn't that much involved with both press & business side of Metallica.

I never said anything bad about James Hetfield or that Metallica are nothing without Cliff. Fair enough, you weren't talking to me particularly but still. ...And Justice For All and Metallica are both as good as their first three albums in my opinion and they were done without Cliff. I also think Death Magnetic is great. But I mean have you heard Lulu?.. Maybe Cliff would have stood for it, we'll never know, but i don't think he would have.

@Autopsium WRONG!!!!...u know what .....yah...cliff prolly would've gone along with load and reload..but quit just like newsted did at the exact same time....metallica started losing their balls in those sessions...rick rubin tried hard to bring it back to the old days....but hetfield can't write lyrics anymore or sing...

well the reason they cut their hair is that they are going bald...the guys are hitting 50...and their music would sound much different if Cliff were alive...cliff taught them alot of their arrangements and made their song much more complex..not only that mustaine had alot to do with that as well......and hetfield is not the main engine of the band...it lars ulrich AND hetfield....actually more ulrich...
