Turn off the heater and pump water through the hot water faucet until it runs cold and then turn pump off. Then, and VERY IMPORTENT, release the pressure FIRST, only then open the hot water tank. If you follow the instuctions in this video right after trailer is in use you will get a face full of boiling water blasting out of the tank when you open it.

Why isn't there any mention of the fresh water inlet check valve? I didn't know about it, the dealer mentioned pushing it. It's just plastic and I'd rather not.
Do we have to do this or do the low point drains take care of the problem? I have a 2007 Cougar 5th wheel.

from Keystone RV Technical support: Do not push it as it will cause the o-ring on the valve to displace and it will leak.
