This is a follow-up to the Quarter Note Placement Exercise. This one recognizes the space between the quarter notes and systematically gets you playing on and in-between notes of a straight-time constant and then applies this concept to "Rock" style playing.
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + yeah!

  • hmm i was wondering are you using the heal down technique for the bass drum? im trying to figure out which one to use since my bass pedal is really "springy" for some reason and always rebounds more than once on the bass drum

  • I play mostly heel up. It allows you to use more of the muscles in your leg. Heel down uses mostly the ankle.

  • love the text comments you have on the side

    lol

would u recommend getting that electronic drum set you have?

    im a beginner......

  • I would definitely recommend that kit. It has worked great for me and is a lot of fun to play.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • i've just started the drums, and looked at other teachers, you are by far the best one. before you i was just playing what sounded good, but man there is a lot of counting and everything that i need to learn.

  • As you get used to more patterns you start to "feel" more than you "count". Learn the counting and it will help your feel.

  • Man, you are an awesome teacher with great insight into developing limb independence. Definitely a great method of learning. Keeping it fairly simple and effective. Great dog in the background, too!
