Culloden Battlefield, Scotland

This is a video clip of the of the field on which was fought the last battle on British soil. On April 16th 1746, British Government forces under General Cumberland ruthlessly defeated an army under Bonnie Prince Charlie. This proved the finale of the latter's ambition to take the thrones of Scotland and England-to which he had a legitimate claim. This was not strictly English vs Scots, more the British Establishment against the Highlanders. The British Army included a large contingent of Scottish soldiers.Culloden is located about five miles (8km) from Inverness in the Scottish Highlands and boasts an excellent Visitor Information Centre.
