A lecture by Professor Lewis Spitz (Emeritus Nuffield Professor of Paediatric Surgery) on separating conjoined twins.
The presentation traced the history of conjoined twins from classical times to the Biddenden maids, to the original Siamese twins, Chang and Eng. This was followed by a presentation of a personal experience with 27 cases of conjoined twins.
The organisational aspects were highlighted with particular emphasis on the Team. Ethical problems were also briefly outlined.
I thought this was an actuall operation.
