  • I didn't hear the Burton films being bashed, I heard competition between The Dark Knight and Batman (1989) with some siding with one film and some siding with the other.

  • maybe we've been going to different message boards, but ive deffinatly read people bashing burtons batmans for being to crazy, and jacks performance being too ott.

  • This is still, to me, the best Batman film made. It has a whole unique feel and style to it that can't be beat. And I think Jack was a perfect Joker, with the perfect balance between funny and sadistic. He personified what The Joker is really about.

  • Great Batman movie but there is one movie that is better than both Nolan and Burton's movies, it's Mask of the Phantasm the animated movie. Kevin Conroy was a better Batman than anyone and Mark Hamil is still the best Joker.

  • Ah yes mr> Nicholson sparks the love- hate affir of the joker for me, this is also how I know Jokers real name even before i wen t back to read the comics. When this movie came out i was still too tiny enough to be able to watch it , the hero concept stays true even through Burtons films. He has qute a way of looking at things but hes on my To Meet part of my bucket list still.

  • Batman The Animated Series is by far the best screen Batman. Mark Hamil is the very best Joker ever.

  • @JMaxwell85 This is nowhere close to Begins and Dark Knight

  • I saw this movie at the cinema and to be honest thought Burton took an absolute liberty making The Joker the killer of Bruce's parents. Its fact that it was Joe Chill.

You can mess with the peripheral of a character but not the central nub of what made Bruce become Batman and Burton paid that part of it no respect at all.

I am glad Nolan righted this wrong in Batman Begins.

  • @Johnlindsey289 How can you compare non acting cartoon with real movies,...

  • I will still say the the scene from the church had me laughing at the GCPD. Gordon pushes on the fallen bell twice and gives up. I guess there's no SWAT team or bulldozers in the Gotham budget. Or more people to move a bell or push the wall from around the bell. Very silly. I guess they had more important things to do.

"Just put some lights on the tower. I'm gonna go pick up my take out order...Yeah I tried pushing on it but it didn't budge so fuck 'em!" lmao

  • It should also be remembered that there would be no Batman beginning or Dark Knight's rising without the runaway success of Tim Burton's Batman and the BTAS/Batman Superman Adventures/Justice League/JLU.

  • @AndyJmovies You really can' fairly compare Nicholson to Ledger or Keaton to Bale. Two totally different eras with different sensibilities and outlooks. Just the fact the events of 9/11 sit in between these movies speaks volumes for changes in tone and audience taste. Nicholson was menacing but not as scary a Ledger and that's fine. The tone fits the time in both places although I could have done without the parade in the Burton film but a Joker plot is a Joker plot. What can be said?

  • Totaly agree with you review! :-) I totaly feel the same!
