The original song is supposed to be (apart from 'Baby I') Bruce's first ever recording, which was written together with George Theiss (both then members of 'The Castiles') on May 18th 1966 in the back seat of a car on the way to the studio.

Sometimes the lyrics are very hard to understand because of the not so good sound quality of the acetate-version. So I added some words of my own. While listening to the song I was somehow reminded of a certain scenery. That's why maybe I turned the whole song into a totally different direction but I thought it suited the song.
First I asked myself what (the hell) is the first-person narrator doing with his lips as it's impossible for me to hear even though I listened to it over and over again. But then there was the moonlight and all of a sudden it came to mind. The person telling the story is of course a vampire and the whole song is about his tragic relationship with his human love. And we all know what vampires do when they try to kiss somebody. ;-) Well, this might be totally nonsense but I've got to admit I just don't care. ;-)
I tried to create a kind of voxy sound while just playing whithout rehearsing. This was only meant to be total fun.

So here it is. A cover of 'That's What You Get'. A song by 'The Castiles' which has been originally recorded at Mr. Music Inn in Bricktown, New Jersey. That's what you get. Right here. Right now. ;-)

  • Excellent ! Well done , thanks for mentioning an unsung Hero in George Theiss !!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

  • Good done

  • horrible

  • Dude, your BADASS!!! Nuff Said!! Trav in KC

  • Great cover. The voice remembers late sixties (I see some vampires in it...). Interesting video too (more variety in the images would be suitable). You're a true artist.

  • Very similar to the style he later developped as a commercial rock artist.

I like this one better than "Baby I".

  • just when you think all the firsts have been done....good on ya!
