not gonna lie when i first heard this song in it's entirety I cried a lot

I wish John didn't have to say good-bye to us. He didn't deserve to suffer through the childhood he had without the love and careness of his parents. John was a kind and unselfish person who only wanted to spread the message of peace and love for others;no war or fighting. The first time I listened to it I could hardly hold in the rivers of tears for this man. The ending, where he begs his mother to stay and father to come home, is just gut wrenching in the way that he screams for them. RIP John

@bananarama471 Well, Lennon 'chose' his father over his mother when he was just 5. And even then, he chose his father twice before seeing his mother crying, and so he walked off to her. He also believed for a very long time, due to Julia's bitterness towards Alfred, that his father didn't contact him. So the general feeling is that Alfred didn't want to contact John, and that even though John chose Julia over Alfred, it was after choosing Alfred twice, and he was only 5 years old.

@critchley92 I'm not saying I'm more educated than the man himself. I'm simply stating that from all the books, documentaries, tv shows, etc that I've seen about him, that is the story they tell. John Lennon was a genious, and an inspirational human being, but thats not to say that he would never lie in order to add dramatic feel to a song.
