The hard life of a hippo, Katavi National Park, Tanzania

Think your life is tough? The last rain was months ago. I'm lying in a mixture of mud and excrement. A thousand other hippos are squeezing from all sides. You can tell it's October, the end of the dry season in Katavi, as the vervets are overcoming their fear and drinking the mud-mix right out of our pool. For food, you have to walk miles during the night in search of remaining grasses, but if we all go tonight, the hippos from the adjacent pool will take over our spots, so I must stay behind and guard - no food for me tonight. And the damn yellow-billed oxpeckers are doing their best to open my bloody wounds. I'd roll over to get them off my back, but there's no space because of all the other hippos. And when you think it couldn't get any worse, some stupid hippopotamus picks a fight and rips my mouth apart. Now I'm bleeding, in pain, and every time I put my head down, it stings like hell. For the longest time I couldn't figure out what the monkey was lol. I don't think I've actually heard a hippo before so that was pretty neat. They sound like a mix of a pig, cow, and someone burping haha!

Also, during the video it would like pause like you were taking a picture...were you like taking pictures at the same time as the video??

The camera allows photo-capture during video recording, but it makes a stupid clicking noise in the video clip, for no apparent reason.
