Return to Laurel Canyon -- old school Mayall-like blues instrumental Stratocaster

http://www.fillmorepedal.com This is a laid back minor key blues in the style of late 1960's John Mayall jazz-blues fusion introduced by Mayall after he broke up the Bluesbreakers. Mayall fans may dig the reference in the song title. I am playing a 1992 Peavey Predator Stratocaster tonight through the Newport '69 Fuzz pedal of my own design, into a 1980 Peavey Renown Solo Series amplifier which is a FET/solid state amp with 160 watts RMS into 2x12" speakers.

I play old school because I am old school. I grew up listening to this sort of stuff. It is interesting because the chord changes are actually in a major key but the bass riff and leads sound minor. Mayall came up with this sort of thing. You could also say Otis Rush did but Mayall's take on it is more modern.

I am really a Les Paul or Gibson SG or hollowbody guy not a Strat player so this is experimental for me. I like a few things about the Stratocaster ty[e guitars but the jury is still out. For me it is a fun change of pace though.


Bass is a 1974 Ibanez Jazz Bass played through a 1968 Sunn Coliseum 880 bass amplifier.

All the instruments are close miked and there is no EQ on the instruments just natural amplifier tone.
