  • Thumbs up on the vid wolverine. Use rip stop nylon instead of cotton for your mattress, it won't rip. You can also stuff it with pine needles and/or leaves for insulation.

Structurally the bed frame looks sound but try the following to improve your warmth at night. Build a wall of branches and leaves from the ground up to the bed around 3 sides, leave the side facing the fire open. Heat from the fire will get trapped under the bed and keep you warmer.

  • Damn i liked this vid!

Next time take me with you, and i promise you will not feel cold :^D

  • A lot of effort just for a bed.

  • Great video! Now I have to look at the rest of your stuff. It's nice to see a woman who is comfortable in the woods. I keep trying to get my wife to visit the wilderness with me, but she'd rather go shopping.

  • Forgot to mention, it also doubles as a bivy.......

  • Have you looked into a Hammock? There are many good instructional videos here on YT on construction. I can recommend a "DD Hammock", if you wish to purchase instead of building your own. The travel version works very well here in Canada with the cold weather. It has a pocket on the bottom in which you can slip foam or whatever insulation you wish. Very comfortable and warm. Also very reasonably priced.

  • I think its cool that your not afraid to show when some of the things you do dont work out, like the raised shelter. I've made a few dodgy shelters myself but would be too vain to put them on utube.

    Good on you.

  • Awesome experience. Good to test your skills.

  • schoene Video. Glueck wuensche!
