The country could well be on its way to meeting its rising power demand after the geothermal development company announced the discovery of commercial deposits of the steam energy in the Menegai crater near Nakuru. The company is now expected to begin generating 8 megawatts of geothermal power by March next year after sinking the first well out of 120 wells it intends to drill in the area. Menegai crater is estimated to hold a potential of 1600 megawatts out of which the geothermal development company expects to develop 400 megawatts by the year 2014. Henry Githaiga has that report.
nuclear power is something kenya cant handle yet I agree. if a japanese-style meltdown occurs, can you just imagine how incompetent kenyan officials would handle it?
