I agree with surreal. I was similar to this my freshman year, had absolutely no idea what I was doing but was too stubborn to listen to what was told to me. 3rd year at IIT is huge for opening one's eyes to what it's all about. Unfortunately, I don't think the problem's with the first year program, as much as first year students in general.
I'd actually have to agree. A lot of my fellow students are like this.. they possess this closed-minded approach to the advice of professors who are there trying to enlighten these first year students. When they get to year three of the curriculum, maybe they'll understand what these professors were striving to achieve for them.
I've never seen a concept spoon fed to a student like that ...not even as a Freshman. Fed that girl a great concept, and she's not getting it at all!
I can't believe none of those other kids were familiar with the term / the ritual of "Cruising". Those kids seem like a bunch of soulless hacks...perfect for big American Corporate Architecture firms.
