How to hookup a LAN based thin client terminal (arm processor) running embedded windows CE 5.0 using RDP (remote desktop protocol). Instructions on downloading and installing an RDP hack on windows 7. How to find server IP, entering that into the thin client. Demo of MS Works on both the laptop (server) and the thin client (terminal). You can even run multiple terminals off one server but best to get a quad core and faster HD as laptop drives aren't the fastest - for best responsiveness on the terminals.

Older style thin terminals like this: NC220 terminal with PS2 mouse/keyboard connectors vs 3 usb connectors of the NC600.

  • how did you conifigure the audio , I'm trying to share my windows7 in the same version , for hp thin clients ( this kind of thin clients get own audio hardware and usb ports) but when i open a new session RDP in the thin client, appears a message with fails in the audio. how can you fix it? or how did you fix it?, do you have audio in all your terminals or just in your laptop, , best regards

  • @dizkdj Sorry, didn't try audio in Windows7 setup. Works fine in xp. Go into the thin client (windows ce, etc) and make sure the audio settings are configured properly there. Otherwise not sure.

  • Just to update you with the video thing, If its connected to a Server2008R2 host, that now has video support over RDP, but i'm not sure if the client has to have RDP7 client or not :/

  • @forde52 I'm not familiar with either Server2008R2 or RDP7 so can't say either way. It's probably as much a limitation of the hardware as it is the rdp software and the 10/100 network bandwidth to supply video. It may work out with gigabit networking and slightly more powerful client cpu.

They say though that rdp was never meant to do video when it was designed.

  • Hi, i have same client from DX but i´m using windows 7 whit sp1 and i cant connect :S can you help me?

    thanks.

  • @luisfebar Hi, it's pretty much all in my video. I set that up a long time ago. The windows 7 I have is legit updated copy so not sure with just SP1? Shouldn't be an issue though. Did you install the RDP software hack? It won't connect without it as normally windows7 or xp will only take one logged in user. To log in with multiple users you need the rdp hack. Use the CMD window and run "ipconfig /all" to find your main computer's IP, then enter that into the terminal. Can't help you otherwise.

  • Hey, I have a small question.

I need two 10/100 network card? One for the Internet and the other for NC600 ?

If not, then how to connect the C600?

    thanks!

  • @westvandude Yeah that is also true, the Client will have to have good enough hardware to do it, I havent tryed out this video over RDP yet, but i will as soon as i find my 2008R2 install disk and my HP T5530, then i'll get back to you on this one. :)

  • @westvandude My firewall was stopping the connection now is all ok :D thanks for your vid.

did you know how to change the resolution? from 1024*768 to 1360*768¿¿??
