A great song has the power to move the listener regardless of it's 'genre', or even it's language. A good song moves the listener by establishing empathic connections which allow the listener to feel the impact and emotion projected in the singers voice. In combining a protest song with a deeply expressed love song, Banco De Gaia's "Still Life" becomes a truly powerful song... Divorce your ears from your usual musical sensibilities, and just let this one wash over you... :)
Every couple of years I break out my "You Are Here" album and cry my face off when I hear this song at the end of it. It's really too much for a lonely person to take! :(

@SilverFoxKnows actually it's not jennifer folker on this one but julia daske;) imo the track is very weird for banco and the strings towards the end are a bit cheesy, but I also have quite a weakness for it...
