I'm getting one of those put in and I have a million questions. Can you swim with it? Do you feel the charges? And you be around technology like an iPod? I'm just so scared I've tried so many medications and I don't want this to fail too.

I'm getting one of these put in on October 19th I think. What can you tell me about the way it feels when the device actually goes off? What does it feel like and if you could please be as specific as you can. I was told you feel it in your throat or it makes you want to swallow. Do you feel it in your stomach as well and if so how would you describe it? I also understand it lowers your heart rate. Do you feel your heart rate drop when it does? If you don't mind could you shoot me an email?

Did you have to do a sleep study be for hand? I’ve had ep all my life and just want to get on with it. The VNS seams to be a logical move but I don’t want it if I have to go thorough more than an in and out of hospital. Enough prodding I’ve been fallowing the MAD diet and that has helped but there are a few triggers that it doesn’t help. I know the VNS can help and I also know it won’t stop the seizures all to gather. How is it working for you? Can you add any suggestions? CW
That's Awesome!!!

Congrats if you are a VNS candidate! It's a very simple procedure, same day (unusual to be put in the hospital overnight). Two incisions, one below the left collar bone and the other on the lower left neck as you can see. They heal very fast (about 3 days they are pretty good, a week, doing good and at 2 weeks you're back at the surgeon - all done! At that point typically they will turn it on, a week at the soonest! From there you doctor will adjust it on whatever kind of schedule they have set.
