  • Sounds like he's talking about the bel canto technique. Not very surprising. A lot of the best vocalists use it. If you google bel canto, you can find a website explaining it all.

Myles is probably my favorite vocalist and biggest vocal inspiration. The fact that he says he's still improving gives me hope that I can one day be that good.

  • Myles has become one of my favorite singer / song writers of today. Besides the obvious, what impresses me more is how humble and personable he appears even after years of being a "rock star". To be a decent human being and a good role model... especially in his line of business is refreshing.

  • @mmissfelder1 - he usues a classical technique called "Masking" which is taking he sound up into the upper resonators in the nasopharynx. This is a Bel Canto technique. Its not about the end result of how you sound but how to decrease tension in the throat by thinning out the sound in the mask. He also talks mostly here about breath support. Bel Canto/Appoggio support is the ONLY way to sing heavy vocal styles like Rock/Metal.

  • how often do you hear singers admit they're not perfect at vocals? this is one of the many reasons why this guy is amazing.

  • @gnrguitar13 wow thnx man.. you helped me a lot with the website

  • one of the best vocalist EVER!

  • You learned it from the beginning because it's easier to learn bits of every right thing, because every little aspect you get right helps you with the others, but for example many people who teach the classical opera tecnique (I've been studying it for quite some time) make you start from the very basics of the proper way to breathe, without having you do anything else, then once you got the breathing going in the right way they teach you how to project your voice, and how to pronounce letters

  • @mmissfelder1 yeah, it's useful, and most of the times the really useful things in modern tecniques come straight from classical opera singing, because that's been around forever, and it pretty much improved over centuries to a point where it's very difficoult to master, but it also brings to the best performances possible. Vocal cords are muscles, so it's like running or whatever other physical activity, the more you learn the proper tecnique, the more you improve the performance!

  • @arcuz92 alright, didn't knew that. Well, I'm having vocal lessons and i learned that skill straight from the beginning.....

  • @mmissfelder1 the "advanced trick in modern singing" you talk about is really one of the basics of classical opera singing tecnique a part from the breath! Having the voice resonate properly in the "mask" is one of the most important things in classic tecnique, and to tell the truth many modern teachers tend to avoid too much of that because in a different contest and style it can sound strange to the ear as most not well-trained singers don't do that, and people are not used to earing it...

  • I don't think he uses a technique from classical singing. At least it doesn't sound like ( It's more a kind of belting what he's doing...). What he describes in that video is an advanced trick in modern singing (using the right part of the mask/ using the right spot inside the head... etc.) It doesn't take long to learn but it takes ages to perfectionize it.
