@SlaughterOtter I had a chance to fire one over the holidays. The receiver was actually marked IMI, but it was import-marked by Century. It was a lot of fun to shoot, and I had absolutely no problems. My cousin had a few hiccups, but that's because he wasn't depressing the grip safety properly.

Awesome video! greatly informative...

@C2builder That part is right. Uzi changed the receiver to be more square so it can be machined easily. Sa 23 used a circular receiver. But the rest of Uzi design is directly lifted from a CZ SMG. Everything you've highlighted in this video came from Sa 23. There's very little innovation in an Uzi that came from Uzi himself. The best evolution of an Uzi and SMGs can be found in Ian V. Hogg's book "Guns and how they work". I have 1984 edition and it's my favorite book on guns.
Thanks for vids!
The bolt/carrier looks close to the Mac, but the Uzi came first right?

Thoughts on the Century Uzi's? Do they have the usual CAI issues?
SlaughterOtter 7 months ago
@SlaughterOtter I have not seen one of Century's Uzi's but I have not heard of the usually CAI flaws as in other guns they build. Not a bad deal though for the price and nobody else is making them.

C2Builder, isn't Uzi a CZ Model 25 (Sa vz. 23) ripoff? You say that it's a "unique design" and "the first SMG to be fed from the pistol grip"... hmmm... I believe CZ beat them to that. Even Uzi himself said that he was "inspired" by CZ model.
Anyway, like most of other Israeli weapons, it's a ripoff of something else.
Other than these two points, good vid!

@KiloSierraAlpha Possibly so, but the inovation from Mr Uzi was the square reciever which was not ever used til that time. Also, the Uzi uses far less internal parts than any of the previous smg. I like to think of it as Israel copies thing and then improves the flaws in certain weapons. They did after all improve our F-16 fighters with better electronic weapons systems.
