Lyrics by Christy Moore & Líam Ó Múirthile, with music by Wally Page. This is from the 1999 album, Éist, which was a compilation of songs as Gaeilge from leading Irish singers. It is about the death of two fishermen, Tomás and Seán Ó Conghaile ('Na Conghailigh') off Inis Oírr in the Oileáin Árann. This is the only song I've heard Christy sing as Gaeilge, live before 50-60 people in An Góilín Singers' club in Dublin back in 2006. The paintings are all by John Skelton (1925-2009), most of which were drawn in the Oileáin Arann.

Is aoibhinn liom an phictuirí, cur síos ar na pictiúir an t-amhrán go maith.

  • Is aoibhinn liom an tamrain seo grma, na pictuiri go ana dheas ar fad.

  • Go hálainn ar fad! Cá háit is féidir teacht ar na liricí?

  • Cé hé an péintéir??

What's the name of the painter?

  • Mé seo a thiomnú do mo sheanathair agus a uncail, beirt Iascairí na hÉireann cróga nach raibh teacht ar ais ó na farraige. I dedicate this to my granddad and uncle, two brave Irish fishermen that did not come back from the sea.
