Gregory Isaacs was simultaneously an outlaw rude boy and a lonely soul in search of love, a complex man and artist who attracted an ardent following among reggae fans worldwide. An innovative singer and meticulous lyricist, he was integral in originating and moving the lovers rock genre forward through the decades. Both on his albums and on stage, Gregory exuded complete coolness. His wistful crooning proved to be his trade- mark and endeared him to generations of reggae lovers. Isaacs complimented his lovers rock catalog with healthy doses of reality tunes. He prided himself on his dapper look for his live performances, typically sporting a suit topped off with his signature fedora. His moniker Cool Ruler was the perfect fit.
