Annabel Croft, Drax and James on the streets of London...
Documentary about homelessness and rough sleeping on the street's of London !!!

I turned up and met Annabel on the 6th day:

Day Six: Two community welfare officers popped their heads over our shelter early and told us they could get us into a hostel that night, but accused us of not wanting help. Drax drunkenly said they were talking rubbish, but I wanted to see how we might escape all this. Then his mates turned up and they all began drinking. It was not yet 6am.

One of his friends was gorgeous, a man called James Brodie from Scotland. He looked like a tramp, with sores on his face and fingers, yet he spoke five languages, had a degree and once ran a hotel. His Spanish wife had kicked him out and he couldn't get off the booze.

Drax was driving me nuts so I was more than happy for James to come along with us. I tried to get them both to the police station, where the community officers had told us to report. We were three hours late. I was now dragging these two drunks along with me -- and realising why they never got anywhere: they either forget what they are doing, or it's all too complicated.

After another hour, I had got them to a nearby internet cafe. Drax fell asleep on the keyboard and James was too embarrassed at what had become of him ever to contact his family. 'I am slowly dying with no hope,' he said at one point. He begged for money to make a phone call and I was asked to beg as well. But I felt that too degrading. I thought if you crossed that line you'd have no self-worth at all. Anyway, I was surviving without money.

  • Its not a vitious cycle. Its an existence without any aim whatsoever. She will never understand this.

This woman betrays a lot at the end when she makes that comment "I doubt whether these people even want help..."

She expects two hardened homeless people to bounce out of the black end of hopelessness to what exactly? Offering a cup of tea and a sandwhich makes you a great person and might save a life on a bad day, but it does NOT make you Jesus Christ. GET OVER YOURSELF. The guy is right.

  • @CO2TROL Great I see your point and you might be right, but on this occasion she did help....I'm the one with the red cap on the video and thanks to her and of course others, I'm here today to tell the story; 29 months sober now, with a new career in the care sector, helping the homeless; helping other human beings like you and I...

I do respect what your saying and just wanted to clear the point....I'm still in touch with Annabel Croft, great heart, great love, great person!!!

  • To be honest it's not how you think and Annabel Croft does and did help me greatly on and off the streets. At the end of the day she has to go back to her family no matter what kind of background she comes from and I don't envy her for this. She actually inspires me as a person with great LOVE for others. But hey that's my opinion and I do respect what you say.

I still talk to Annabel once or twice a month. She gives me lot's of love and guidance, which helps my self esteem

  • Thank you Richard, I'm glad you liked it... Sorry and sad about David !!!

  • Hey annabell was my naighbour for the week in the cardinal hume yp hostle. Hehehe.

  • I'm sure it helps getting money when you have a camera crew around you lol.

  • Can anyone upload the second part that they went to the homeless's house? Please...

  • I really believe that Annabel had good intentions here and should be commended for that. Sadly the reality is that she goes back to her cozy photogenic family lifestyle having 'done her bit' while the homeless carry on trying to dull their pain with booze or 'getting sozzled' as she quaintly puts it. Until the disparity of the haves & not haves is addressed in this country [and the divide is getting greater] the homeless & voiceless will continue to grow in number.

  • Love you too !!! Thank you !!! ;-) x

  • Tears in my eyes... big pain in my heart, I met David in London when he was in the streets with my brother James Brodie, who now a days he is fit as a fiddle, he has his own house, studing, out of alcohol, drugs, out of the living in the streets, and the most important, alive!! sadly enough David is dead. rest in peace.

Thanks Annabel Croft for helping my brother James to come out that dark and cold tunnel with no end or way out...

    Love you broth :-)
