Most student or mid-line trumpets are made with the 2 piece bell system, most pro horns (including Bach, Benge, Calicchio, Getzen, Schilke & Yamaha) are made w one piece bells (Schilke bells are seamless). The 1 piece bell is preferred by pro's as a 2 piece bell is easier to make it adds too much playing resistance. This is still cool for kids to see "how it's done!"

why is the bell made separately from the "bell tail"?

@jonowonoponosono The bell has to be shaped and molded into a bell. The "bell tail" is a standard sized pipe that is widened to be able to fit onto the bell. I don't know if all trumpet manufacturers do this, but this was the King factory's method.

actually I think that This is the Bach Trumpet factory because my brother who plays the trumpet went there a few years ago with his college trumpet proffessor.

@cassiemom No, it's the King factory. It said that at the end of the episode in the credits. I taped this entire episode on a VCR tape. This episode originally aired in 1986.
