  • @crice6505: (continued) They may have some that is better than the 5-10% you'd get from the pharmacy. Plus, it may be easier to find some without surfactant, since the uses for hardware-type ammonia, at that concentration, tends to be so specific that those uses exclude surfactant.

  • @crice6505: Ideally, you don't want surfactants in your ammonia. Surfactants increase surface tension and make bubbles, so you can verify this by shaking the container a good bit when you're at the store. If no bubbles, you're in business. I'd recommend going to your local hardware store and asking for concentrated ammonia solution.

  • @pyropakman they may have mentioned this in the vid, but I am forced to watch without sound as of right now. the HCL is known as muriatic acid commercially and can be found at your local hardware store, but what about the ammonia? am i just looking for any old ammonia or am I looking for something else and where can I find it?

  • @pyropakman right, this is the combination of an acid and a base, so there is water going to be present unless the reaction takes place at a high enough temperature to allow the water to evaporate. To get the purified form, you would have to make a still right? that breaks it down into the question of boiling points, I am looking for a concentrated form for use in Chemical woodburnings. I have a logo that I am looking at putting on my guitars and I think the purified form is necessary.

  • this is stupid, cause you dont mention the molarity of the two fluids.... so... this doesnt actually make sense unless you are using solutions with the same molarity.

  • @2860dopeshit It's used as a food additive, mildy acidic salt. But have you ever eaten table salt straight up? not good, I wouldn't do it

  • what would happen if you eat it?
