This chiller from 1969 is an almost forgotten masterpiece. Wynne, nearly fifteen, is growing up on a modern housing estate. Here is the title sequence in which she gets out of bed and dresses for school.

  • I love this film but its unavailable on dvd or video. Please can you put up the sequence where she's drunk in her brothers van and coming downstairs on her bum. Jenny Agutter's a terrific actress and that was one of the best drunk acts ever.

  • Okay, drunk Wynne scene now added.

  • A great performance from the great [and stunningly gorgeous] Jenny Agutter.

    Her drunk scene is superb.

  • Yes and Richard Harris and Jenny Agutter then went on to star in a film (or was it a TV Film?) called 'The Snow Goose' in 1971. And that's another classic that needs a DVD release and I believe 'Hallmark' films own it?

  • I watched this on Netflix!

  • Jenny Agutter was beautiful. This was a good movie. It was two stories in one. A girls infatuation and a serial killer on the loose.

  • I Made a DVD For video iv got :)

  • @rps1958 Since you posted a comment about this video "I Start Counting" has become available on Netflix.

  • @howdidienduphere I just discovered I Start Counting (a really good movie) the other night. They have it at Netflix for instant watching. (I would love it if they would release I Start Counting onto dvd, Region 1.) I can't believe this movie is so underrated. I love dark coming of age drama thrillers! Also, the book is very hard to find. I would love to get my hands on the book I Start Counting by Audrey Erskine Lindop! They only have a few pricey copies at Amazon.com.

  • i love the music, Kirchen was great.

  • I never saw this movie, but I was charmed by the novel when I was a teen. Eerie and frightening and endearing. I love this little clip of a movie that's no longer available for viewing. Thank you!

  • I met Jenny 4 years ago, on the set of 'Diamond Geezer', in Leeds, when I was a TV extra, and she's a wonderful friendly person

  • I've read somewhere that Basil Kirchin (the soundtrack arranger) wanted Cilla Black to sing the title song, but in the end the job went to the young daughter (Ms Moore?)of the drummer on the session. I'm sure she did a better job than Cilla would have done!
