  • @adamsjm21 ...obviously you have either drank the Tea or are too stupid to figure it out. Let me explain it for you. First off, and the most obvious, the welathy are NOT creating jobs. They have had the Bush tax breaks for over 10 years now and they ARE NOT creating jobs. In fact, they are SELLING our jobs overseas. Secondly, TRICKLE DOWN DOESNT WORK...IT NEVER HAS. The money does not trickle down.....im simply fills the pockets of the wealthy while the rest of us suffer. Turn off Faux News

  • I'm so glad she pointed out the irony of the fat Wall Street cats schmoozing Congress members with expensive dinners while the poor scrounge for a meal at the food bank.

  • Yep, a bunch of gutless cowards!

  • What Rep.Kaptur failed to mention was that a Democrat, Bill Clinton, signed the bill that repealed Glass-Steagal back 1998. What we need to repeal, actually reject, is the Ronald Reagan/ Ayn Rand legacy and vote for a visionary who sees a different path than the one we have been stuck on for the past thirty years.

  • Jack kingston set down stfu

Stop making ad hominem nonsensical arguments. I'm not self righteous, I'm a nobody and I admire surgeons and teachers far more than myself. I'm merely pointing out the trickle down effect DOES happen. The executive branch doesn't create jobs or productivity. When a govt regulates and subsidizes anything, the price increases and the quality decreases. World history proves this emphatically. Society will be chaos as the feds have no solutions for the economic demise coming.

So, we should have a world of nothing but entrepreneurs? No teachers, doctors, police, firefighters, etc.? I'm not arguing that someone who takes a shot at a business, and does well, shouldn't reep the benefits. I'm just saying that when those people pay a little more, we all do better. When we all do better, we all live better. Whether you agree with me or not, doesn't really matter. Society has been getting closer and closer for centuries, and it will get there.

  • @Yoseman1

Mises and Hayek would have a field day with all these misconceptions. One thing you missed, the dollar's value was 90% higher than it is today. You also never mentioned the differences in M1 or inflation at the time. Face it, you're just disgruntal because you lack the ambition and intelligence to get rich like most people do in this country; by creating a company and producing something of value! I'm an entrepreneur so I've seen your failed theology in practice.

...And do you know what we did with all that revenue? AMAZING things. The interstate highway system, countless bridges, damns, and infrastructural improvements. Rich people didn't go broke. nobody lost the desire to better themselves. The sun rose everyday. Also, the middle class BOOMED with all of the jobs to build these things. IF we implemented what you want, not only could you kiss roads, bridges, schools, etc., etc., etc., goodbye, but also the military.

...At $42,500, you have enough to get by, but you'll never get rich. I'll not only stay rich, but if I have half a brain, I'll get wealthy over time. Remember, there is only so much money in the pot. There is not an unlimited supply. If you allow the few to hoard it, well, you get what we have now...nothing. In the 1950's, this country had, BY FAR, the most progressive tax rate, where the top tier tax bracket paid over 90%. Of course, on a sliding scale....

  • That's absolutely false, and let me explain why. The flat tax ideology is a myth created 100% by the wealthy, claiming it is fair. On the surface, it sounds like it is very fair. Think of it this way though with a Steve Forbes 15% flat tax. I made 10 million dollars last year, you made 50k. My tax is 1.5 mil, and I'll cry the blues that I paid 1.5 MILLION in taxes. You paid $7,500. Same percent, yet you FEEL it, I don't. I have 8.5 million left, you have $42,500....
