I never knew my dad, he was a druggy an alcoholic a woman beater and my step dad one day met my mom when her and my dad went to where he worked to get my moms car fixed, they went home my dad beat my mom my step dad got called by her, my step dad came in to protect both me and my mom, fought for me in court when my dad wanted to have custody of me. And my stepdad was always there for me and still is.

Anybody notice how he said Kellys son was like Huck Finn? I think it's cool because Huck is what Brad named his first son and this must have been 6 or 7 years before that.

I grew up in a 2 bedroom house, last of five, I always knew that my oldest brother(the first of five) was "adopted" by our Dad. It never made a lick of dirt to me, never will. Our Dad still treats all of us like we are completely crazy, and have no idea what a wrench is or a pot is. I'm 36. We all have spouses and babies, and we can always count on Dad for anything. Mom and Dad are older now, but, I learned that family has nothing to do with DNA, it's all love. I Love my family.
I cried the first time I heard this song. I found the album and played the song for my daddy. I was 18 and he had only been around for 3 years at that time, but I knew then it was the best way to express my feelings for this man who just showed up one day and despite the rebelious teenager, the hyperactive 5 yr old, and the bottle toting 8 month old, he stuck around and made our lives so much better. He is the best Dad that any girl could have ever asked for.

Thanks for your comment, it was very heartfelt and sincere. Your father sounds like he is quite a guy. Not only are you fortunate to have a father like him, he's equally blessed to have you and your siblings in his life as well.

My mom met my Daddy when i was one year old, until the day he passed he always made me feel like i was his baby girl. Even to this day I still feel him looking down on me. I love you Daddy, and I miss you. I know that some day we will be together again.

I apologize for replying so late, but I haven’t kept up with my account as I should have. I am sorry for your loss, but it sounds like your dad did a great job in raising a caring and sensitive daughter. My mother passed away 18 years ago, and my brother 8, so I know how difficult it can be to lose a family member. Your father will always live on in your heart & memories. I’m sure you’ll find that just by thinking about him you’ll still find the comfort, support & love he always had for you.
