  • I used note book paper for the disks and poster board paper for the housing and coat hanger wire for the shaft.

This was all glue togeather using hot melt glue.

The motor / generator was from Radio Shack with a 2 volt light bulb soldered to the contact tabs on the motor using short bits of wire.

The turbine shaft was connected the the motor shaft with a bit of tubing from a Bick Pen ink tube and secured with super glue.

    Good Luck with your design!

  • If you get your hard drive disks back, and want to try building a Tesla Turbine, check out my "Tesla Turbine made of Cardboard" vid. It show a disk turbine design where you don't have to drill so may holes.

  • Paper and cardboard Tesla Turbines are easy to work with, cheap, and SAFE! These turbine toys can really spin up fast, and then fly apart. If it is paper, no big deal, nobody hurt, and you can clean up the mess with a broom. Wth paper you can knock out several model turbine designs quick for testing, plus the model makes a good "go-by" to show to guys in the shop, if you decide to make your design out of steel.

  • @ufoengines hii im sorry , what you are using is a cd reader motor right? how do you connect it to the light bulb, and are the discs glued to the axis? how thin is the paper in the discs, thanks a lot

  • Check out my "Tesla Turbine Made of Paper" and my "Tesla Turbine made from Cardboard" videos on YouTube if you would like to try to build a cheap model of a Tesla Turbine.

    Good Luck!

  • Thanks guys for the positive comments.

Let me know what you think of my "Tesla Turbine Go Kart " and "Leaf Blower Powered Go Kart " YouTubes.

  • So your using 110AC to make 2VDC. We need to figure out how to do it the other way around.

  • I learned about the Tesla turbine about 2 weeks after throwing away about 10 old hard drives. They would've been perfect for a fun little project like this.

  • @panzarw you can make one out of cd's...
